In the historical moment we find ourselves in, we cannot avoid thinking about how much the world is changing and how much more and more we find ourselves having to fight for what we believe in.
We want to continue talking about what we always talk about; we want to continue to recommend to our beauty community (and not only) products and people to follow, which can be of inspiration. If representing diversity has always been natural for us, now we want to emphasize it. We have always been of the idea that to normalize diversity, we should stop talking about it, it must not be or become a trend. Still, at this moment, we want to do our part, even more, to be a voice that, unfortunately, still today, it must be heard in all possible ways.
And what does The Italian Rêve believe in? The Italian Rêve believes that all people should be represented and that in the past, representation didn’t reflect reality. We want to talk more and more about people who are not measured by a meter, by their color or by their number of followers. We want to create a place where there are no compromises or constant comparisons; and we want to talk to people who have a voice – who are wonderfully different from each other, from us, from you – with the ability to self-expression and a desire to change the world with their ideas.
We like to think we can give voice to all those who believe in real beauty, a beauty that is continuously evolving.
So, we couldn’t but launch this new Beauty project with an agency that embodies diversity, an agency like JAG Models. And they are the only ones in the world to do so, truthfully, in their New York offices. Their philosophy is called the “No Assholes Policy” and their mission is rooted in the principles of kindness, compassion, hard work and accepting every individual in the world for who s/he is: “As long as they are healthy we will never ask them to gain or lose weight. We celebrate them for what they bring to the table.”
So, let’s try together to expand and reconsider the idea of beauty, an ever-evolving word.
And, as JAG Models say, “Be you.”
Model Ali Beck told us something about her skincare and makeup routine during quarantine and about how she’s been finding a way to make every day interesting. Between berries, beauty secrets videos, and Glossier products, here’s her personal reminder to love yourself to the fullest in order to become your most authentic self!
Discover here the interviews of Lainey, Jordan, Lotte, Nya, and Evonique.
How has the quarantine been treating you?
Quarantine has been quite interesting. In the beginning, it was enjoyable, relaxing almost. But then my day began to become repetitive. In an attempt to break from that I began reflecting on my life. Being that I graduated high school this year, planning the next chapters of my life seemed suitable given all time we now have. I want to hit the ground running after this is all over.
What’s your first thought when you wake up in the morning these days and realize you cannot go by as usual?
I initially think about what I could potentially do in the day to make it interesting. Whether that be meditating, yoga, reading, etc.
What keeps you in bed?
Netflix and Social Media.
What makes you wake up?
The sunrise and the chirping of birds outside my window.
What’s the first product that touches your skin in the morning?
Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser, it’s super gentle and makes me feel awake after rinsing it.
What’s your favorite meal nowadays? Do you have a favorite food for your skin?
I have been enjoying steel cut oats and fresh mixed berries with a touch of honey and chia seeds. Some of the berries are a great source of antioxidants!
We definitely have more time to dedicate to ourselves: tell us step by step what are the products and techniques you are using for that extra pamper time?
Aside from material items, I’ve taken up meditation. I find that waking up in the morning and taking just fifteen minutes out of the day to meditate and practice mindfulness has helped my mental and emotional health.

How do you practice beauty from the inside out?
We all love to watch the Vogue makeup videos and play around with new techniques for our hair, but I find that at the end of the day what matters is how you’re feeling on the inside. As cliche as that sounds, most people don’t take that into consideration. I’ve been using a positive affirmation to help build my self worth and confidence. When you love yourself to the fullest extent you then can become your most authentic self.
Hair mask: are you a fan? If yes, what are you sinking your hair in?
Typically they’re not for me. However, because we have the time I thought why not try some out. I’ve recently been over the moon for the Sephora Shea Butter hair mask. Super hydrating!
How are you practicing self-care? What are you doing to combat anxiety during this time?
Reading. It has helped take my mind off of the negative thoughts we all tend to think about. It’s a way for me to escape time and be in my own universe. I allow whatever book I’m reading to transport me to a better place.
“When you love yourself to the fullest extent you then can become your most authentic self.”
The beauty stuff on your nightstand?
Glossier balm dotcom. It’s a universal skin salve that’s super nourishing when I wake up with dry lips in the deep of night.
What’s the skincare tool you are using the most these days and why?
Recently I’ve come across the Ling SkinCare Jade Roller, it’s authentic Jade and worth it for the price. It’s soothing on the skin and helps to reduce my puffiness in the morning whilst promoting blood circulation.
Are you playing around with makeup?
I sit and watch all the Vogue beauty secret videos, trying to pick up tips and tricks along the way. Instead of applying concealer with a beauty sponge, I’ve used my finger for a more natural skin-like feel.
Current top favorite makeup brands?
Glossier, Fenty Beauty, and Benefit Cosmetics.
The last product to which you said “no”?
The Mario Badescu hyaluronic under eye cream.
The last product to which you said “yes”?
Glossier Cloud Paint.
Your SPF of choice for staying in?
Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Mineral Sunscreen Lotion.
Are you a fan of night masks? If yes, what are your favorite ones?
I could do without overnight masks due to my oily prone skin.
These days, there is a lot of time to think: If you could invent a skincare product that isn’t’ on the market yet, what would it be?
I would invent a product that would help enhance one’s natural freckles without all the damaging sun exposure.
What do you do for your skin that is not strictly linked with skincare products?
Drink tons of water, watching the amount of dairy I consume and trying my best to limit my sun exposure.
What’s something new we can expect from you after quarantine is over?
You can expect me to look at life a lot differently now. We really didn’t realize what we had until we didn’t anymore. I will live my life with a more positive and cheerful outlook. Not worrying or comparing myself to others, and being my most authentic self!
Is there a book you are currently reading?
I am currently reading “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn.
