It started yesterday in Paris the week dedicated to Haute Couture and the first word that comes to mind to describe this day of fashion shows is only one: “beauty“. More or less classical, characteristic for each brand and marked by different inspirations, yesterday we have seen wonderful dresses and suits. We offer some of the best looks presented during the day:
SCHIAPARELLI
______
Ode to art and love: Schiaparelli opened the day, presenting artistic designs in forms, colors and patterns. Vivacity was the protagonist of the runway, where we saw light, warm, elegant and informal dresses, all characterized by an imaginative style (especially with regard to the motifs) and alternated in some moments to the purity of white. And what about the shoes with the heart?
GEORGES HOBEIKA
________
The collection is characterized by precious decorations present on the dresses, that bring lightness to the whole pieces. Long skirts and straps are alternated with jackets and trousers, but the real star was the dress: light pastel colors dominate and there isn’t a single one that does not contain one or more details. The show was princely as per the shapes and styles presented, hairstyles were simple (a low ponytail and cramped with central line) and accessories small but still they did not go unnoticed. The floral is the dominant theme of this collection that enchants for the dreamlike aura emanating from the first to the last piece.
DIOR
______
Maria Grazia Chiuri continues the tradition of Dior when it comes to choose a magnificent location: this year it was the garden of the Rodin Museum: the models walked on a meadow while creepers and natural elements filled every possible surface. The classic suits (jacket with pants or skirt) were initially in total black or white and they did not give away the fairy atmosphere that was about to come: floaty dresses, soft shades, decorated with precious embroidery, brought us back to the setting of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream“, even if, above all, the true protagonists were the headdresses, finely crafted in details, all different (for shape and material used) but equally remarkable. A touch of classical aura remains, and it is impossible not to be fascinated in front of the clothes presented. Another success in the pursuit of femininity enhancement, which is a leitmotif for the Creative Director.
FRANCESCO SCOGNAMIGLIO
__________
The voice of Lady D., to which the stylist devotes the entire collection and who has always inspired him, accompanies the whole show: sensuality and romance are intertwined on the catwalk, where elegant suits and dresses are presented in a range of colors that goes from white to black through the pastel ones and gray. The details, many applied on the transparencies, are treated in a refined way, while hats, veils and masks complete the looks. The ornaments resemble those of the past ages, scoring in this way the continuity between past and present, between tradition and innovation (especially for the textiles used), between today and tomorrow.
RALPH&RUSSO
________
Bob hairstyle with bangs like Cleopatra and elegance: these are the fundamental characteristics of this Haute Couture collection, that alternates more or less long dresses exquisitely decorated with various motifs, able to exalt the body shapes. The fabrics are lightweight, almost transparent and colors are neutral, including white. The variety of finishes, styles and models shown is remarkable, and there are plenty of references to past collections. One word to describe it all? Ethereal.
GIABATTISTA VALLI
________
Last show of the first day of Haute Couture, and here too we found the alternation of pure white dresses and others more colorful and more decorated. The details, whether they are valuable or obtained with ruffles of tissue, are present in every look posed. The footwear is mostly open and the elegance of the dresses, whether they are ample and light or heavier and adherents, is achieved by treating every single part. Various motifs were shown on the runway and to close it all we saw the famous voluminous skirts that have been characterizing the brand from some seasons now, a point of reference then among every new collection.
