During the Milan Fashion Week, we have seen beauty, elegance, originality and creativity walking on the runways. But we have also noticed that those who work in this field have the same goal: to improve the world in which we live in by defending and spreading the values of sustainability.
The first Green Carpet Fashion Award Italia, held at La Scala Theatre, was organized by the “Camera Nazionale della Moda” in collaboration with Eco-Age in order to reward those who fight to carry on this social responsibility, proposing innovative and sustainable solutions, and to emphasize once again the importance of respecting both the environment and human rights.
The symbol of the evening was the pomegranate. Indeed, the prizes given to the winners, designed by Chopard, were pomegranate shaped and also the location’s decorations recalled the fruit. Livia Firth and Carlo Capasa, organizers of the event, emphasized since the beginning of the event how much work there is still to be done despite the hope and the goals reached so far, “because a better world is possible, and the fashion industry has the power to drive this change.”
Many influential personalities attended the delivery of the 12 prizes, and it was Livia herself who wanted them to participate: “Stars are very important: they represent role models, showing to millions of followers how fashion can be ecological, and also beautiful. We want to shake people’s attention and show how the clothes are really made, the commitment that they hide.” Among the various winners there were Pierpaolo Piccioli and the dressmakers of Maison Valentino for the Art of Craftsmanship, Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Pierpaolo Picciolo again and Alessandro Michele for the research in terms of sustainability, Tom Ford as the Best International Designer supporting the Made in Italy while Orang Fiber and New Life won the award for Technology and innovation.
However, the real winners of the evening were the looks of the guests, which have shown how it is possible to be elegant wearing clothes obtained from waste materials or produced in a sustainable way: things that never go out of fashion are indeed the respect of the environment and our attempts to leave to the next generations a better world than the one that we have found.
