Last night’s Golden Globes red carpet in Beverly Hills was in the spotlight. The ceremony award that every year assigns prizes to The Best Movie and TV series of the American scene took place in LA. Golden Globes are considered the most important opening event of the season that culminates with the BAFTAs and with the Academy Awards. Every year it gives us a lot of satisfactions, predictable or not, as well as unforgettable moments.
The “supremacy” of La La Land (which won 7 Awards, establishing a new record, Including Best Comedy, Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling) was predictable but still well deserved; Casey Afflack is the best actor in a drama for Manchester by the Sea, while for Best supporting Actor and Actress we have Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Viola Davis.
However, even more surprising is the victory of The Crown (Best Drama TV series with Claire Foy as Best Actress in a Drama Series), which has left without any prize the most popular Stranger Things and Game of Thrones. And among the other winners we find Atlanta, the miniseries “The Night Mananger “,” American Crime Story “and” Black-ish”. The show was presented by Jimmy Fallon, and, among others, the awards were delivered by Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Bell and Naomi Campbell.
It was an evening full of important, funny and unforgettable moments such as Jimmy Fallon comparing Donald Trump to a “still alive” Joffrey in Game of Thrones, the kiss between Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield under the amused gaze of Blake Lively, the Andrew’s standing ovation when Emma Stone won the prize, the usual congeniality and beauty of John Legend and his wife Chrissie Taygen.
All this and much more without forgetting the important things brought up by the various winners during their speeches: Ryan Gosling thanked his wife Eva Mendes for all the work done for their family (her brother recently died of cancer) while he was working on set; Claire Foy marked the need of having more women in power, Meryl Streep criticized Trump in a veiled but very recognizable way, giving a beautiful speech on the importance of fighting for our rights, quoting Carrie Fisher, who was remembered with Debbie Reynolds during the ceremony.
“Take your broken heart and make it into art” was the message spread by the actress.
But the first major award of the season also means the first red carpet worthy of attention: between the ceremony and the after-party we saw a lot of amazing, classic and refined looks; a variety of styles and designers that definitely left a positive mark. Last night beauty was everywhere, shown off not only by winners and hosts, but also by various guests.
