Also this year, like clockwork, from the 8th to the 19th of May the French city of Cannes is going to be so much more than a pretty spot on the French Riviera. Ten days of makeup and fashion, of movie history being made, of stunning actresses whose performances have made us cry and laugh, of empowering ambassadors and beautiful models. Ten days of glorious beauty. Whatever we might say or do, whether we like the movies or not, the Tapis Rouge at the Cannes Film Festival is really something else.
So, these days we fell in love with Irina Shayk’s bright red lips by Vincent Oquendo, the perfect balance between sophisticated cat eye and red lips sported by Julianne Moore and Leomie Anderson’s dark metallic blue eyeshadow, among the others, but there were many, many looks that made us swoon. Many ought to be mentioned and praised, these days, as it was a real carousel of beauty and elegance (with a spark of bravery, sometimes): from the nude brown eyeshadow of a surprisingly natural-looking Bella Hadid to the greens and pink tones rocked by model Petra Němcová. Some of them we are going to try on ourselves asap, ready to make a trend out of it, others we would never wear (but definitely envy nevertheless): just think of the androgynous actress Kristen Stewart, glorious in her role of Chanel ambassador, either rocking a classic matte lips or a bold and glittery grey smokey.
So here’s what we loved, what we awed and what we absolutely promise you’ll love too, straight from the most fashionable Film Festival of the year!

Kristen Stewart
Vanity Fair and Chanel Dinner Party
______________

What do we say about the blue, glittery eyes created by Beau Nelson for Kristen? Go big or don’t go at all. And it was definitely big the eye makeup that Kristen Stewart rocked at the Vanity Fair Dinner Party at the JW Marriott Hotel, last Thursday: in Chanel from head (and, most importantly, makeup) to toe, our girl brought the metallic eye to the next level. The electric blue eyeshadow, bright and mesmerizing, was applied on her lid and under the eye, emphasizing its green color. A thin black line on the lower lashline, a coat of black mascara and a dark nude tail of eyeshadow adds depth and prevent the look from looking too bright.
Matched with a pearly white Chanel dress, a soft contour and a nude pout, this eye makeup is a masterpiece of bright and metallic colors.
Chapeau, Kristen.

Cate Blanchett
“Cold War” (“Zimna Wojna”) Premiere
______________

The best way to sport a colorful, edgy dress (signed, in this case, by designer Mary Katrantzou)? Match it with an elegant updo and with a nude, sophisticated makeup!
Cate Blanchett was stunning with her childhood-inspired dress, a flawless base and just an ethereal, soft touch of color on her lips and cheeks. Almost invisible, her makeup blended greatly with her natural beauty, enhancing it with touches of light on the cheekbones (the Neo Nude A-Highlight in 10) and points of baby pink on the cheeks and eye. In fact, the actress’ blue eyes were enhanced by a cold shade of pink that blended into the “Camel Smoke” shade in the socket of the eye, using darker and matte shades of “Eyes To Kill” Solo Eyeshadow tones adding that extra kick to the gaze. The lips were painted of a creamy rose, thanks to the “Alexandrie” shade of the Rouge D’Armani lipstick.
How not to fall for Mary Greenwell’s highlighter game, subtle but definitely there? We loved the glow!

Léa Seydoux
“Cold War” (“Zimna Wojna”) Premiere
______________

There are two things that made us fall head over heels for this look: the flawless base and the bold, black cherry lips, all by Dior Beauty. The French actress sported the perfect glass skin, looking natural and effortlessly perfect at the same time: all we can notice is a veil of contour under the cheekbones and blended up on the temples, a shadow that results almost imperceptible in the glowing whole of Léa’s makeup. The lips were full, in a bold matte shade that captivated all the attention and added a sexy, confident allure to the otherwise natural makeup, matching perfectly with the Luis Vuitton dress. The makeup was created by makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani for Dior Beauty, while Léa’s blonde hair were styled in an androgynous sleek-back pixie by Renato Campora.

Lupita Nyong’o
“Sorry Angel” (“Plaire, Aimer Et Courir Vite”) Premiere
______________

If we didn’t see enough holiness on the occasion of the Met Gala, the premiere of “Sorry Angel” shows us an angelic Lupita, with a high-neck Dior gown adorned with a white feathery skirt. Her raven curls were styled in an elegant updo, while her hands showed a subtle but powerful dark grey nail polish (by Deborah Lippmann), leaving her white jewelry free to be stunningly shiny. Her makeup artist, Nick Barose, matched a bold burgundy lipstick to the dress, using the “Bow and Arrow” shade of the Color Design Lipstick by Lancôme.
A full Lancôme beauty look, then, since the eye was enhanced with a creamy, long-lasting berry shade using the Ombre Hypnôse Stylo in Rubis. The deep purple tones were matched with a subtle and radiant makeup base, resulting in a fresh, although remarkable, makeup look.

Irina Shayk
“Sorry Angel” (“Plaire, Aimer Et Courir Vite”) Premiere
______________

Do we love the romantic makeup of the stunning model Irina Shayk? Well, look at that luxurious skin, rich shade of lipstick and glowing complexion and ask yourself: how can you not?
Makeup Artist Georgi Sandev matched a shiny lipgloss and a deep nude eyeshadow, which goes up to the crease and touches Irina’s full eyebrows, to a red dress by Atelier Versace and Chopard jewelry. Red and pink tones flatter Irina’s sun-kissed complexion, green eyes and long, brown hair (styled by celebrity global hairstylist Aleksandra Sasha Nesterchuck) and Georgi knew that a natural base, almost without contour and with a masterful use of highlighting on her forehead, chin and apple of the cheeks, would’ve been perfect with a touch of black mascara and soft brown eyeshadow. It’s not the first time that Goergi and the supermodel worked together, having collaborated for a number of editorials (for Vogue Japan, among the others), but it is the first time that we see them working together on the Red Carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.
A good start indeed!

Stella Maxwell
“Sorry Angel” (“Plaire, Aimer Et Courir Vite”) Premiere
______________

In a sexy custom Roberto Cavalli Couture silver dress and with Chopard jewelry, the blonde VS Angel sported a striking makeup look by photographer and makeup artist Beau Nelson (the same artist that did the amazing Blue Chanel eyes for Kristen Stewart, Stella’s girlfriend). The model’s cheeks were generously contoured, highlighting her chiseled features and the gentle shape of her face, while the skin had a healthy, pearly glow. The eyebrows were full and natural, a perfect arch above the pink eyeshadow, with a touch of metallic silver in the center of the lid, while the blended black line on her lower lash line added definition. Stella’s lashes were curved and coated with black mascara, with a doll-like effect that framed her blue eyes.
Her blond, long hair, was styled in a knot by Bridget Brager.

Thylane Blondeau
“Sorry Angel” (“Plaire, Aimer Et Courir Vite”) Premiere
______________

A full L’Oréal Paris makeup for the stunning teen French model Thylane Blondeau, who’s also an ambassador for the brand, in an Alberta Ferretti black gown. The makeup was created by Kristina Vidic, using L’Oréal Paris products, while the chocolate-shaded, straight hair of the model was left free to fall on her shoulders, done by Stephane Lancien using L’Oréal Hair.
Thylane’s big and clear eyes looked almost grey-ish with the bold pink smokey eye, created with the palette Cherry my Chéri, that mixes mauve, pink and dark purple tones. The eye was further dramatized by the black eyeliner and the generous coats of black mascara, Xfiber Fales Lash. The edgy eye makeup, made even bolder by the eyeshadow blended under the model’s eye, was down-tuned by the peachy shade of her lipstick (which was Les Chocolats 844 – Sweet Tooth) and the blush on her cheeks, contoured with the Back to Bronze Powder to chisel Thylane’s traits.
Who says black and pink are out of style?
