On 12 January 2017 the Bafta (British Academy Film Awards), were held at the Royal Ballet Hall in London. They are widely considered the British Oscars, and they come before the big event that will take place in Los Angeles later this month (to see the nominees, click here) and after the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards.
Some winners were predictable, while others were more surprising, but anyway everyone has deserved his statuette: Tom Holland is the winner for the category “rising star” while Viola Davis for her role in “Fences” (in her speech she has marked the importance of having more African-Americans nominees each year to the various awards) and Dev Patel (for “Lion”, which took home the award for the “best adapted screenplay” too) are respectively the best actress and the best actor . Casey Affleck is the best actor for “Manchester By the Sea”(the film also won in the category “best original screenplay”) while the corresponding female prize went to Emma Stone for “La La land” (who has literally run on stage to hug Eddie Redmayne, presenter of her category).
“La La land” also won the prizes of best film, Best Director, Damien Chazelle, cinematography and original music, “Jackie” instead won for costumes and “The jungle book” for Visual effects; “I, Daniel blake” won the statuette for best British film.
We cannot forget that, for this ceremony, one of the most awaited moments was the initial red carpet, where beautiful and particulars dresses and suits were appreciated by the presents and by all the people around the world! Here a list of the best looks of the evening which we surely won’t forget.
