Raise your hand if you are Italian and you have never seen a Casa Surace video… Barely anyone, right? That’s not a surprise, since this group of guys has gotten, and keeps getting, an incredible success of views on YouTube and Facebook (they count one million subscribers and 60 million views on their pages) thanks to their videos, where they ironically represent the characteristics of Southern Italy and its stereotypical population. They also propose southern recipes and series of formats, such as “Being 30 years old”.
“We have a lot of fun, often maybe misplaced or exaggerated, in disassembling common perceptions and in showing to the audience a small universe made of provincialism, culinary habits, behaviours and a modus vivendi typical of those who grew up in one of the most beautiful places in the world”.
The fortune of Casa Surace was born in 2014, when a group of Neapolitan roommates with a cinema, theatre and communication background, arrives on YouTube: in a year they grew to be quite famous and signed with the Netaddiction company an agreement that provides the creation of high quality videos to be shared on new media, in addition to a series of branded content videos in which they propose a series of products (among the partners they count Disney, Wycon Cosmetics, Campari, Sky, Coop, Samsung and Pringles). Everything, of course, according to their iconic style.
Recently they travelled all over Italy from North to South to distribute the “Pacchi da giù” (boxes full of typical Southern foods) to people with particular stories. One of these boxes has also been taken with them to the Giffoni Film Festival, where they emphasised during a Masterclass the importance of believing in what you do, in your roots, and… the importance of eating of course!
