“Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” was the latest exhibition at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and the first to single out a living designer in more than 30 years. This was the Met Gala 2017, the most anticipated and talked-about event in the world of fashion.
This is the Fashion Oscar, the Super Bowl of dresses.
This year the event was co-chaired by Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Condé Nast artistic director Anna Wintour, the latter is also a museum trustee. You could feel the adoration and admiration for Rei Kawakubo on the red carpet, where many designers paid homage to her and to the theme, from Louis Vuitton to Maison Margiela.
This year actresses, models, athletes and entrepreneurs decided to go full “fashion”, taking risks, giving a chance to that dress they wouldn’t dare to wear, and flashed their best red-carpet look.
Let’s have a look at the night’s most successful ensembles that took the MET by storm!
